3D bevel cutting for weld seam preparations

With the pipe cutting system PTC500, Messer Cutting Systems has developed a pipe cutting system for the machine ranges OmniMat® and MultiTherm®. This means that standard 2D cutting is now optimally complemented with pipe cutting.

Using the plasma bevel units Skew Rotator or Skew Delta bevel cuts up to 50° and with maximum 400 Amp can be achieved.

Only a few operations and actions are required to prepare for cutting. The pipe is placed onto at least two pipe support carriages and positioned close to the chuck. The pipe axis is brought to match the chuck axis either manually or with an optional electric height adjustment. Then the 3 jaw chuck with the pipe rotation drive system is pushed to the end of the pipe, the jaws are clamped and pipe cutting can commence. A self-restricting trapezium threaded spindle keeps the set height of the pipe rotation axis constant.

An integral component is the pipe cutting software from HGG, the specialists in 3D processing. The pre-programmed pipe ends and pipe to pipe connections in the form of macros can be called and only need the input of the appropriate dimensions.
