Powder Marking
The powder marking torch applies a line on the work-piece by melting zinc powder with the heating flame. The semi-permanent line produced by this process can be welded over without problems.
The powder for the marker is contained in a storage reservoir on top of a specially designed torch.
When preheat oxygen is supplied to the specially directed ports, the powder spins and enters the stainless steel tube and travels to the plate, where the flame causes it to bond to the metal.
Key Features:
- Produces lines approximately 1 mm wide at a rate equal to maximum machine traverse speed
- Can also be used to create alphanumeric text
- Avoids manual secondary operations by creating layout lines
- Zinc powder creates a silver line on mild steel
- Coloured powder provides a high contrast line on Stainless Steel and Aluminium
- Lines can be continuous or intermittent
- Each moisture protected 50g vial of powder produces over 1 km of lines

Inkjet Marking
Printing lines, contours and alpha-numeric characters
The Inkjet Marker is available in three models:
- Single jet (single dot) for line, contour and character marking
- Multi-jet fixed (7 dots) primarily for labeling letters and characters in one direction; can also mark lines and contours
- Multi-jet with rotation (7 dot), primarily for labeling letters and characters in different directions; can also mark lines and contours
It provides fast and quiet alphanumeric labeling with printing in one direction of travel for non-rotational unit or multi-directional with rotating unit. In addition, it marks both line and contour marking for showing bend lines and feature locations. The enhanced version adds a rotation axis to allow text and lines to be oriented at any angle on the surface being marked.
The Ink Jet Marker uses a 7 dot head to provide highly legible characters up to 25mm tall at speeds up to 17 characters per second. The print head receives a text string from the part program and executes the printing commands in a single motion.

PL-1 Plasma Torch Lifter
Accurate Height Control
The MG PL-1 torch lifter combines plasma arc voltage monitoring with a CNC closed loop positioning axis to greatly enhance plasma height control. As accurate height control is very important in plasma cutting, this combination provides a higher duty cycle and better cut quality. The PL-1 torch lifter is available on all Precision and General Fabrication machine models.
The PL-1 torch lifter height control is done through the CNC software, resulting in less hardware and more reliability. The system is flexible and allows the user to program pierce height, retract distance, IHS slowdown height, and conditional height freeze.
The PL-1 uses a 200W AC digital brushless servo motor and twin steel guide ways with a precision ball screw to provide travel lengths of four or ten inches, depending on machine application. Moving elements are sealed with protective steel strips and combine for tracking accuracy of +/- 0.3 arc volts.
Key Features:
- Set initial height sensing via ohmic position detection
- Set the arc voltage range (50-300 volts DC)
- Make servo loop adjustments for position and velocity gain
- Set semi or full automatic operation
Sensomat-Pan Height Sensing
High accuracy of stand-off distance
Sensomat-Pan Height Sensing reliably maintains the proper standoff distance between the oxyfuel torch tip and the work piece, without operator intervention. The Sensomat-Pan is an option to be used in conjunction with the OL- Series Lifters.
The Sensomat-Pan system uses 'capacitive' technology, with the probe acting as an antenna, to sense the presence of the plate. Actual measurements are compared to a set value, corresponding to the desired stand-off. The built-in logic commands the lifter motor to constantly move the station to obtain a zero difference between "actual" and "set", achieving high accuracy of stand-off distance.
It operates using one of two different style sensing probes:
- Ring 22, .866" diameter sensing probe (Best used with thickness range = .079" to 1.575".
- U-65, 2.56" diameter sensing probe with 180 degree radius and open mouth "U shape" (Best used with a thickness range = 1.575" to 3.15")
Key Features:
- Uses 'Capacitive' technology at 15 KHz, to provide high reliability and tolerance to harsh environments
- Measuring accuracy of +/-.12" and repeatability of +/-.04" maintains part quality and optimum cutting speeds without operator intervention
- Accommodates plate inclination of +/-3 degrees to work with wavy or warped plate
- Height 'freeze' can be activated to allow cutting near the edge of the plate
